ok, i am "manonfire's" girlfriend and we just found this site tonight and i am thankful. it helped us answer a lot of questions about my boyfriends actions. even though it's a tough time for us i still manage to laugh at him. we think he's diagnosed with schizophrenia and when we found the site and read the posts, he thought this site was a setup against him! (?) ....anyway, we are looking for anybody who may know about any type of free help for schizophrenia.

Here is another option. You mentioned needing free help, so I'll assume you have no health insurance? Please look in your phone book under the County section for something like County Mental Health or Community Mental Health. Almost every county will offer some services to people without health insurance. Either they will help you get set up with Medicaid, if you qualify, or they will work with you on a sliding scale. Most places will have a pdoc (psychiatrist) for medications, or psychiatric nurse with prescribing privileges, and social workers available for therapy. Take care.

try any nearby universities with residency facilities attached to them as well. you can find pdocs there who are in residency training -- they will operate on sliding scale fees too. my pdoc is a resident at a uni with a good rep and he's great.
