i have read a lot of helpful tools to use with my spouse.
this is a major concern for me in taking care of him. one of the things he does is take off into the community. this results in someone calling 911. once he was arrested for loitering and the judge threw it out, thank goodness. i have adt in the home. what suggestions have worked for you caregivers with a similar situation to not only protect my spouse but also to help him realize he must not wander from the home without talking with me first? he hears voices a lot and i realize he often does what they tell him. we have a bracelet but it doesn't state he is schz. any suggestions on that? this is just one of my concerns but thought i'd start with this major challenge. it has been suggested that the state could intervene if he is arrested. he is non-violent. we do not want this to happen or for them to insist he be put in a lock down situation. thank you in advance for any suggestions or helpful info you can offer me. -jan

I'm sorry nobody has answered your post. It's taken me this long because I am not a caregiver. It sounds like you are doing your best. What state are you in? I know in California the state can't step in until you've been hospitalized for so long, i think 38 days with no improvement or if your a danger to others
I hope others respond with more insight for you. Love and Hugs, Tara |
