Welcome StandTro,

Everyone is different, some people have a one off experience of it, others have several episodes but it tends not to be something that you suffer constantly with. A combination of meds and psychotherapy may be helpful, and also working out what stresses or triggers it.

I'm of the thought that schizophrenia, once it starts does not go away on its own, but rather progresses with time. So you may start out with a one off episode, like a brief psychotic episode and graduate to schizoaffective then full blown schizophrenia, unless of course intervention is made. Then you can stabilize with meds and live a productive life. But just my thoughts.

Love and Hugs,
Tara
