I've been schizophrenic for over 30 years. Diagnosed for over 20. Sometimes the voices are there sometimes there not. I just accept that and try to continue on the best I can.

Thanks for sharing this, Teddy Bear. I have tinnitus... a constant whistling, ringing sound in my ears. It never goes away. I too have learned to accept it & continue on.

If you are here to speak about your success in living with schizophrenia (of any sort) I commend you, and if you are here to learn how to better support a loved one who lives with it. the same goes for you. you are all inspiring and courageous people in my eyes.
Thanks for this!

I too have learned to accept the voices, i was diagnosed in Aug 09 and the voices started in June. so it hasn't been that long, but i was in the military at the time and got care fairly soon after the hallucinations started. my friends noticed a change in my behavior and brought it to the attention of the right people. i think the military mindset i was taught helped me accept the fact that i was sick and needed to get help. Now because of my acceptance, i lead a fairly normal life with a job and a wife and daughter. the voices are still there and may always be there but i understand this, its just part of the hand i was dealt. i accept that.
