Hi
I am in counseling, but she doesn't think I have schizotypal personality disorder. I have read about it in the DSM IV, and I know ppl say you can really easily diagnose yourself, and I know you are not supposed to. but i really think I may have this. I do have a lot of trouble with personal relationships and getting close to people. I also have difficulty expressing any feelings that are centemental or mushy. Anger is easy for me to express though. Anyone have any thoughts? |

There are as many different reasons for issues with emotional intimacy as there are people in the world... Self-diagnosis isn't recommended, especially if you are looking to find any answers in how to heal from said difficulties. Just keep acquainting yourself with this counsellor. Express that you wish to know your full self & the source of your relationship difficulties. She may or may not overlook a diagnosis & go to the source of trying to assist you... And if she does? It's not the diagnosis that is important, it's the solution. But if it makes you feel better, go with what feels right. Just don't agonize over it.
