So, I was invited to awards night. I was surprised I didn't get a music award...but that's okay. I was surprised that I got an award for my four years of participation on the envirothon team. Furthermore I was surprised at how generous the environmental science teacher is with her awards... because I've dedicated myself to the team throughout highschool, I recieved a certificate, as well as a field guide on the local turtles and a free 1-year subscription to The New York State Conservationist.

But...I did get a very special award before that, which made my day...

In my american Literature class, he couldn't decide who has the highest average and such, because we are a very small class and we pretty much all have good grades in that class. So, he decided to give out an "unconventional award" just for me. What was is the award for?

Well, I got a certificate in recognition for "Supplying the Most Random Comments in ELA: American Literature"

Yes, you heard me right: I was awarded for being completely random in class. Now, I'm not sure how many people here realize how random I actually am...because well, you guys only know me online. But I will say one thing: I think my comparrison of Henry david Thoreau to a giant panda is what took the cake. (Hey, at least it was related to what we were doing!) after that he said he was doing to develop a whisky habbit by the end of the year. Then, I got back at him (unintentionaly I swear!) for all the times he busted my chops by repeating this to our umm..."energetic" tour guide when we went on a trip to Walden pond. Sometimes I think he doesn't like me...but he's sort of like a twenty-something year old teacher with a sprinkle of Dr. House. He says he is going to miss me next year...

I would just like to note for the people who often critisize my generation as kids who never learn disapointment because they always get a trophy that these sorts of awards aren't given out...ever...except for tonight. (Hmmmm...I must be pretty special, huh?) Pretty much all of the awards are given out for the highest average, and occationaly (as in very small amounts of the time) for the most improved student or like my envirothon award are given out because you've dedicated a lot of your time to some sort of activity.

Now THAT is an awesome teacher, and the most awesomely random award I've ever heard of! That's the kind of teacher that actually encourages teaching, which is pretty awesome.
