Recently my girlfriend broke up with me, and a lot of other changes have been going on and I've become depressed.
The problems is that the last time I was this depressed my grades started to go way down, I'm taking all honors classes next year. Does anyone have any advice they're willing to give me on how to make it so my mood doesn't affect my grades? Thank you |

You can try to put the break-up past you and focus on what you wish to attain in the future and imagine how and where your success would take you. You could also try to focus on the good times you had with your girlfriend rather than the bad. Alternatively, you could take is as a sign or challenge to become more independent and that you're becoming closer to your goals down the road. If you have many friends then perhaps they can support you also.

Yes, your grades are important.
Resolve your thoughts and feelings about that relationship now, and then set it into the past so that you can move forward with your studying. Clarify in your mind what your goals are and how your studying becomes your priority. Then focus on your studying. You can do it. |

i would recommend seeing a therapist, if it is something you think might continue to affect you next year
![]() also, they will be able to ascertain whether you have MDD, and this might entitle you to some concessions at uni through disability services. |

I would try to find a congenial study group or two; other people to be around and work with so you are not alone with your thoughts quite so much when you "wish" you were studying.

Try to imagine the relationship that just passed is something very small in your life, a stepping stone if you like, and now you're at the next step of your life. You have all the future to look forward to and not to sound too cliched, there's plenty more fish in the sea
![]() Additionally ask yourself what you will get or are hoping to get out of studying for your classes. Future/career/interest/helping people, if you have a goal it is much easier. |
