Well I been doing a bit of a research on education options for me in Toronto. Currently I am in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, went here to study (because of help of my father and relatives, and because I wan't to good at high school). Well the career I want to go with in life is more art direction related, a bit to do with web development, however mainly I focus on graphical and visual part. Here (in Russia) I got into Tourism, didn't have much options due to screwing up my high school. It is good thing to study, however that's totally not something that I am interested in. Yes, I could transfer later to something else, but enviroment with relatives didn't go well because I am transgender.
Was looking at graphic design education, which is not as strong, but not bad with less time and financially not bad. However I was told that it's not useful.
Today was looking at art schools in Toronto, where I can get at list a diploma (mainly I want to do it for myself anyways, because I am able to be really good with what I do and it is: web development and art direction; clients really like me and the services that I provide - product that they get and that really works for there business). What I see now: it's really the same in terms of diploma as what I wanted to take, just takes longer and really costs more. This made me feel frastrated and proved my desire to go my own way in life, and make my own choices. 'Cause now I will be having hard time to get in and support the education. Diploma seems important as a back-up for the future, because I would be able to find job in some company with that. The good part of course that I will be pure in terms of getting first real graphic, visual and design education, so it will build a clear approch of that education place. By the way the programs seem great, a lot to learn even just for myself and a lot of ways to grow.
Well this is just more of a self-note. However I am interested to hear if anyone has any comments on that or advice. Trying to find my way to an education that I will be able to keep as a back-up in case of employment, but mainly for my own growth... which is a bit hard and confusing, because I am a little afraid to go the wrong way and screw up, as many relatives say I would.

Of ALL of the places ANYWHERE - why choose Toronto (T-Dot)?

There is no such thing as screwing up in your life, just a new learning experience and a different path.

hi,
i have just started back at college after nearly failing last year. i only just passed the course and am now doing the same course but at a higher level. my family told me not to bother going back to college as i only just passed the first course and they are still determined that i will fail the next two years of my course. Althiough this is very off putting i just have to tell myself that i am better than them and i feel like i HAVE to pass this course to prove to them that i am not a complete falier. my advice to you is do what you feel is right. going back to education is something you really want to do and you feel it wil have a positive affect on your life, go ahead with it. if i can be of any more help private message me. best wishes sam
hope this helps you
