I applied for a scholarship to spend the summer in Japan and my interview is on Monday. First of all, I don't think I'd be able to go if I was medically diagnosed with depression (which is what I think I have. I haven't told my parents, but that's irrelevant right now) but that is beside the point right now.
How can I prepare for this interview!??!?! I'm 16, I've only ever had one job, and I've never had a job interview. What sort of questions do you think they'll ask? I'm so nervous!!!

First, BREATHE!

Anxiety is normal, but hyperventilating through an interview doesn't make a good impression. It's an exchange, ok... that's a bit different than having an actual job persay, but that means it's probably fairly competitive.

Do you know much about this exchange? Research it beforehand, bring any questions you've got to the interview. I'm assuming you had to fill in a basic application, right? Did you have to provide your resume?

If you didn't have to provide a resume, you may want to look into getting one done up. Sure, you're only 16 so you don't have a lot of work (paid) experience, but you've done volunteering right?? That still counts for experience, because you still learn stuff!

They'll probably ask about YOU, your interests, your strengths, your weaknesses, get to know yourself a little beforehand

Good luck!!!

Well I had my interview on Monday, as you all know. I was super nervous but it went well! I'm skeptical, but I just think that's part of my paranoid nature.
I don't know if this makes any sense, but I'll try to explain.
When things are too perfect, I get extremely paranoid. For example this fall I had every symptom for the flu, and that is why I refused to believe I had the flu. I thought if I fit the bill exactly then it is impossible for me to have to flu. That's also why I don't think I have depression, because my symptoms fit too perfectly.
A similar thing happened on Monday. I felt like I was answering the questions too perfectly. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I'm really impressive on paper. My mom told me not to worry about it so I'm trying not to. They said I'll hear a definite answer in about April. :P

I am happy that the interview went well.
