I'm two weeks into my first ever college class and boy is it wearing me out. I'm in Intermediate Algebra(I tested into this level and it's still considered developmental math). I work on assignments before class, during class, after class and for hours at home! I have a 30 minute tutor session once a week and get "raise your hand" type help outside of those sessions.
You have to understand, summer semester courses are accelerated. Like, fitting a whole regular semester into 7 1/2 weeks. I'm not sure what I'm looking to get from this thread. Ideally, though, I'd love to IM chat with someone who can help me out so I don't have to take the bus to school more than necessary to get help. Thanks for listening. |

Summer school is very condensed, a lot of work in a short period of time. It is great you are staying on top of it by getting help; it is very easy to get really behind in the summer sessions. It is not always convenient to go to tutors but if it keeps you on track, would encourage you to continue doing so. The advantage is it will be over for you in 5 weeks, you can do it!!!! Hang in there, take good care of you, and do whatever you need to stay on top of it.

Erin,
Thanks for sharing and congrats on taking your first college course! I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for regarding help, but I worked as a college math tutor for a long time, so if there is something I can help you with, feel free to PM me. |

College really does require you spend alot of time doing homework. I think that was the hardest thing for me to adjust to when I started. I had the good fortune that my grandma has a math degree, and boy did I have to spend alot of outside time on my math work. It was well worth it; I pulled an "A" in every math class had.
