I am going to take the GRE AGAIN (shoot me now please) and am actually going to study this time. I am 20 pts (2 questions) off from qualifying for the distinguished doctoral fellowship here and did pretty poorly on the writing section last time and want to improve.

Well they are totally changing the way they do questions on the GRE - again. It looks like it will be easier this time around but the questions are going to be a lot different. I printed off the pool of essays they randomly choose for you and have been trying to go through them and type up essays so I'm prepared when I get there.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a service or someone who would go through these and tell me what should be changed or if it looks like a GRE-worthy paper. I have emailed the librarian here to see if there is a free service. I know people here review CVs and resumes but usually that's just for grammatical and spelling errors. Anyone done this before?

These people have an essay grading service for $20; I'd do something like their program:

You might check with your university's English department. They may actually have someone on staff who grades. I grade SAT writing, but I'm not familiar with the GRE's standards for writing or I'd offer to help.

I emailed the librarian and she said that there is a quality writing center that looks over resumes, essays etc.... I think I will check them out and see what they say.
