My friend thinks I should go to college....I'm very smart, and it probably would be good for me....but I'm scared of my anxiety, of my ability to keep up with regular life on top of school life. I've been out of high school since 1998.....I took "a year off" to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, and it turned into 13 years. Drug addiction, alcoholism, abusive (ex)husband, kids, all turned my life into college not even being an option. NOW however, the abusive husband is gone, the drug addiction and alcoholism is under control (thanks to extensive therapy and groups), and I STILL don't know what I want to do with my life. In other words, I'm a 31 year old who doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up.

The other problem is the basics of life. I already struggle with keeping my house clean, keeping my kid on a schedule, etc. So I really don't know how I'll manage it all when I add school to that. I'm also scared about the debt. I'm in over my head as it is, and now I'm thinking about adding more debt?

I'm really confused, because although I think my friend may be right, school probably would be good for me, I have all these other issues that need to be figured out. If anyone has words of wisdom to share with me, please do. Thanks for listening.

If there's something like a community college in your area, could you start out with one or two classes and see how that works for you?
Thanks for this!

Hello, rory587. Have checked with the US Department of Education: http://www2.ed.gov/about/contacts/gen/index.html?src=gu

or your state's department of education: http://www2.ed.gov/about/contacts/st...ex.html?src=ln

to find out what assistance, if any, you may be entitled to?
Thanks for this!
