I have no place to hang out in the morning, Im thinking of just going to my class first thing, But its awkward to sit alone and the teacher doing things. I went to the atrium to hangout and sit on the steps, I keep getting stared at. Why can't people stop staring at me?

I feel like this all the time. I only have one really good friend in my school and when she's not around I feel awkward and alone. I just barely passed math last year and I'm struggling in physics this semester. And when a class is really boring I zone out and then think about depressing things and get emotional. Just try to focus, I hope things get better for you.

Think positively! It could be worse- a 50 isnt totally hopeless and you are doing good in everything else! Also, people probably aren't staring at you, sometimes people are paranoid about people looking at them. Everything will work out!

Maybe try reading or studying while you wait for class to begin? If you're looking at something, you can look at people looking at you

It can be really difficult sometimes...
I find math really hard as well, Im on the border-line...54% altho I do have a quiz on Wed and an unit test on Friday!! Gotta study!! But maybe in between ur classes u can create flash cards, and study that on breaks...Try and see how that works! |

As a teacher, I like it when a student comes in early. It helps me understand kids, and makes me a better teacher to everyone. On the other hand, I supposed you don't want to seem nerdy. Sometimes, I'll send the student on a "mission" to buy hot chocolate or a soda--if you are on your way to somewhere, you look less busy. Depending on your school's policy, you can always "pretend text" too...

Hi Heartofgold2123,
Feeling anxious, tired, depressed, is kind of hard on your grades. I found it took so much out of me and it was hard to focus. When I had more energy and felt less anxious later I did better. Be kind to yourself and simply do the best you can. Do you see a therapist or counselor or have you considered seeing a doctor about meds?

School is definitely hard, I had a hard time coping too when my friends weren't around. I would even pretend to be sick and try to stay home if I knew they wouldn't be in. I just did my best to try and make a few more friends. If you help someone in class with their work they (or you) will probably feel comfortable enough for a simple "hi" in public, and you'll build on that.
I used this when I started college, it helped me make some friends so I wasn't alone. Being alone in school isn't nice and I hope you can make a few more friends.

Are there places in the cafeteria or anything, gym bleachers? I would see if I could find a geometry tutor (I had to retake geometry :-) either from school or out of school, maybe ask that teacher for extra help/go sit there in the mornings for a bit until time for whatever class in whatever room? It might not be so hard sitting in a class trying to understand that class' subject while the teacher was there? Getting to know the teacher a little bit could help your grade; if they get to know you you won't flunk
