OK here is my situation. First of all I really don't like school and I never really wanted to do it in the first place but I was afraid of being that person who didn't go to college. Well I took last semester off because I had injured myself and to basically regroup with life altogether. I moved home and transferred to a college closer and I absolutely hate the program there. It's a small private school and it's an establishing program and that's just not what I was looking for but they gave me a scholarship so I went. Well now I feel like all my teachers hate me, I'm constantly getting criticized and watched under a microscope and I'm tired of it. This is my 6th semester in college and since I changed my major from dance to dance education I will be in school for maybe another 2 years or 4 semesters. There is another college that is close to me also that I had considered transferring to but is it worth it? I just don't know if I can handle the school that I'm at for another 2 years. If I'm so unhappy now I doubt things will change within the next semester. I need your opinion!

You may want to ask yourself...if I wasn't in school what would I be doing?

Hi DancinGirl24 - Sounds like your current school isn't very enjoyable. It's not very nice being criticized and feeling like you're under a microscope. I have felt like that
in one setting, and did not like it at all. Try the pros and cons approach: list the
good aspects of staying there, then list the negative aspects of staying there. Consider what your options are. 4 semesters and you could complete your program, right? Could you complete it somewhere else? Try to have a plan in place before you make any major changes, so that you will benefit. And if you do decide to leave, then "don't burn any bridges" (because you might wish to return in future).

I agree with Rose3. It doesn't sound very pleasant at your current school at all...and it's also possibly worth examining whether it would be more doable for you to have to go for more semesters at a school without that atmosphere, than completing another 4 semesters at this college.

Keep your eye on what you want, not on the surroundings. If it would help you to transfer, even if it costs you a semester or something, then do that. If you can "stand" where you are, then do that. But remind yourself of your goals and plans, not what the people around you are doing (and that includes other students or teachers, etc.). If it will hurt you to stay, if you cannot be nice to these teachers and give them what they are expecting and they appear to be bringing you down and might hurt you later when you are looking for a job, then change.
