In the olden days, we had the threat of getting drafted, or having to work in a factory or in construction or as a waitress or a taxi driver if we didn't succeed in school. Now you can't even get THOSE jobs, so truly, what is your motivation? If you ARE hopefull nevertheless, maybe you just need to get physically energized and THAT would help your concentration. Go run around the block every half an hour while you're studying. It'll be crazy but it will give you and the dogs in your neighborhood something to look forward to. Get a box of mini dog biscuits.

Hey Jess95, I am struggling right now with the exact same thing...so I'm afraid I have no words of advice to offer you. Just wanted to let you know that I can relate, and I'll be checking this board once in a while to see what others say. Sending you hugs and positive vibes.

Find a study buddy / study group .. that is probably the only thing that has remotely helped me keep on track. Also try getting a new shiny notebook / note taking software, it provides some initial gung-ho (but tends to fade away after the novelty wears off). I'll also be checking on this thread, b/c depression+studying is a serious issue for me right now

I don't know if your climate would permit but I do this to attempt to focus and get away from a depressive mood. I take everything to a park and be prepared (lunch, water) to be there until I accomplish some part of the study goal. Mentally, if my mind wanders I see nature and am not reminded of the issues of my life. It's more peaceful and has less distractions than a library. It's just you and your study material.
