I am still 15 years old but I am not sure what I want to do. Well, I do know I want to a Fine Artist but will that alone support me? Will it support a family in the future? I was thinking what If I become an Art Historian? Or maybe a psycologist? I am interested in that every since I have been dealing with depression. I used to want to become a writer but I do not think I have much potential in that field. It wouldn't hurt to get something published though. But because of the economy, I fear that having a career that I like and enjoy is not possible. I fear that I will have to get a high paying career but I won't enjoy it as much. Should I even be worrying about these things? Or should I just keep doing what I like?

It sounds like you have a lot of interests. I had a cousin who had artistic talent that parlayed that into a successful career as a graphic artist (he passed away a couple of years ago)

The point is that you need to hone in on what interests you the most, then do some research to find ways to chanel that interest into a succesful career.

As for the money, the trick to living well is not always to make a big income, but to manage your standard of living according to what you do make. If in your choosen career income is not great you can always take on supplemental work until things at your main career improve.

Anyway at 15 you have time to do the research and decide what most interest you. Also remember that these interests are not always static and as you move along in life something else may interest you more, do not be afraid to be flexible.

Whatever you decide to do, learn how to manage money. I cannot emphasize enough to younger folks like yourself the great importance of learning how to maximize every dollar you get in to work its best for your benefit. Invest early on in life even if it means delayed gratification and lowering your standard of living in the short run.

Anyway, I wish you the very best of fortunes moving forward, since you have already started thinking about these things, you are already ahead of your peer group.
Thanks for this!

It would be good if you go with your choice. you will grow in that field very well,
but also there is an option for psychology it would be great career option.

Wow, someone's a bright 15 year old! (When I was 15, I spent the entire summer playing video games and chilling with friends... -.-)

You can approach it from many different ways, but I think a good way is as Timgt5 says: look at all of your interests and ask yourself which ones you enjoy doing the most (you find yourself spending the most time doing), and which one you do best. There is probably one interest you have that you just LOVE doing and you could do it all day - this is a good initial guidepost to an eventual main career.

In terms of thinking about money and job availability etc, it's never too early to think about it - and it's a question you really need to answer for yourself. Would you mind doing a job that you didn't like that much for a stable income, or would you rather be earning less, but doing something you love? There isn't a right answer for everyone.

Also, if you end up making the wrong decision, it's not the end of the world. Another secret to finding what you really want is to try loads of different things and see if you like it.

One last thing I'll say is that, you don't always have to do exactly what teachers and career services tell you to do. One thing they don't teach you in school is that there are A LOT LOT more alternatives than simply going for the most employable (safest) major and getting straight into a job. Some people go to college/university and then start their own businesses or take some time out to travel and find themselves. Some people might not even go to college and get into an internship/apprenticeship scheme.

Now that the "economy is bad", there are literally LOADS of opportunities out there, and these opportunities will keep growing and growing. So don't be afraid to dream big (if you decide you want to) follow your heart

KEEP DOING WHAT YOU LIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

even Donald Trump will tell you that you should do what you love if you expect to acheive any sort of wealth.

When I chose what I wanted to major in in college I chose something that was of interest to me. I found it easier to learn the material. Even though I went to school for criminal justice I worked in Mental Health. So, sometimes what the degree is in isn't always important. I would go with your heart and choose something that you will enjoy learning about.
