I'm trying to study, but due to physical pain and depression thoughts, i just can't seem to get motivated to study even though I have a test to take.... Anyone got any ideas for those times that studying seems impossible???

Are you taking meds for your depression and your pain?

As far as motivation, I assume you want to be successful to acccomplish some future goals, so each test successfully taken and each task done is helping you to reach those goals.

You might try reading out loud as you study--asking yourself questions along the way, thinking of ways to remember any info you need to memorize, etc. Those more conscious techniques might help you keep your mind off the pain. That would be a start. You might also talk to a school counselor about your situation.

I find... don't study for more than 30minutes at a time. take short breaks. =] drink some tea, stretch abit. Then go back to it. Hope this helps, I'm in school at the moment and have developed some techniques, but most involve sleep deprivation and so wouldn't be suitable advice to give. I understand how frustrating it all is. =]

I start following links online to learn about the subject instead of focusing so hard on it; just learning stuff by osmosis and interest instead of directed intent. Ask yourself interesting questions about the material you wish you knew the answer to and then go find out. Invent nonsense or equation questions (How does a tree talk to the ocean? In what way is wood like stone?) and make up a plausible answer (plants talk to each other Scientists Confirm that Plants Talk and Listen To Each Other, Communication Crucial for Survival : Science/Tech : Medical Daily and the one closest to the ocean. . . :-)
