What should i do? I am on the verge of crying and going crazy. I was a scholar but now i don't know how to study?! How to concentrate and focus?

I am starting to panic, counting the number of hours left to school.

Kittycat,
This is probably too late now but the best advice I could give on the day of a test is keep calm.

I'm sure you know more than you realise. I panicked on the days before my exams but nothing I ever tried to cram in ever stuck. I always forgot it again 5 minutes later.

Good luck in the tests. Try not to panic and do your best. That's all anyone can ever ask of you.

If things don't go according to plan, you can always re-take the tests if you need to.

It is too late to do anything but show up to the tests and hope you do well. It's easy to forget how to study if you've been away from school. I need to relearn myself. I know in my case half the problem is that I didn't go to classes. The research suggests that regular review after attending class is quite helpful, though it is hard to do when you have a full course load, perhaps review material that you did not understand the first go. According to the research, the most effective way of ensuring you have the knowledge is to quiz yourself or have someone, or something, else quiz you. It might also help to see an expert who can teach you specific methods.

One good tip for concentrating and focussing is tell yourself you will just do it for 5 minutes. Then give it your all. Take a rest and do it again. Keep starting, knowing you don't have to go for hours. Eventually, it may catch and you will be studying for an hour or more. But it's recommended to take breaks every 45 or so anyway.

Longer term and general strategy: Start writing up questions on the left 1/3 of the page and the answer on the right 2/3. Try to come up with the kind of questions will be on the exam. Cover up the right side of the page to test yourself, or let someone else randomly test you that way.

Best way to go is study every day of the week. I'm an honour roll student (science, in university) and if you would like my help, just PM me.
Thanks for this!

Clear mind is hard. I would say to just start doing it. It's like motivation. Don't wait for it, just do and hope it arises.

hey tiger lily,
i understand it's hard to have to be back at your old level out of the blue. i think it would be useful to start for your next test today, by looking at how long your concentration lasts right now. when you lose concentration set the alarm for ten or fifteen minutes, figure out what works for you. this way you know what your capacity is, time wise. when you know what works for you, you can plan accordingly for your next test. I know it's going to take time, but learning to learn again is a hard thing to do. i hope this will be useful. How did your tests go anayway?

Tips: Meditate, deep breathing and more deep breathing, relax your body and keep your mind on your studies, don't forget that if you don't do well, it's not the end of the world. ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))

You can try just skimming over your notes and hopefully you will get some ideas from them.

I wish I had seen this post when it first went up, but I see there are still people interested in this thread. There's now lots of help on the web for students old and new – from the academically challenged to the sophisticated scholar.

Some of it is really simple and fun. It could be used by high school or college students. For example, I recently found a free learning tool called Lexicon (lexicon.geknwom.com) that allows you to study and memorize the terminology related to any subject.

You start by typing a term you want to know about into a search window. Then Lexicon brings up a definition along with a set of a related terms that you might also want to understand and memorize. When you're ready, you click a button that says "Test my memory" and Lexicon then tests how much you remember and tracks your progress. You can test as many times as you like.

I've been using this to master technical terms in art, but you could use it for any subject.
