So I just realised yesterday that one of my asssigents for my university subject was never recived. I emailed it to the teacher on time but it turns out the email address was incorrect. I never recived a "bounce back" email and from my end it appeared the assignment had been sent. I had no idea there was an issue until yesterday when I saw I had received a zero. I am hoping to talk to the faculty and get it fixed somehow but I don't like my chances.

I suffer depression and anxiety (which the university is aware of) so I am hoping someone will take pity on me. I highly doubt it though considering the situation is entirely my stupid fault. If I fail this subject I don't know what I will do. I keep having irrational thoughts about hurting myself even though I could never actually go through with it. Ugh.

You have the header for what you sent, showing the date/time you sent it, I would forward (as well as print out) the email to the right place with a simple explanation. Hopefully the professor/school will "fix" it. If your other grades were good in that subject, it won't harm much; I had to be away for a final when I had an "A" in that class and was offered an incomplete or a gentlewoman's "C" :-) I took the "C". It wasn't a subject in my major. Maybe you can ask for an incomplete and show them that you did in fact do the assignment, etc. and all they have to do is grade it. . .

Thanks for the reply

So far I haven't had much luck. I've been contacting various people at the university and they just keep saying they can't help and contact someone else who will then refer me back to the person I originally contacted The unit co-ordinater seems kind of willing to help me though...

On the plus side I have kind of calmed down about it a bit and have since realised it is not actually the end of the world.

hope this works out, losing something to a human, understandable error does not seem right.
but, glad you are feeling less stressed about it. hang in there!

Always good!

I know a course/paper is bigger but I am reminded of when I type a big reply here or on another forum and accidentally back up or go elsewhere or close the window, etc. and the reply gets eaten and I have to start all over. I work hard to look on the side of (1) I get more practice (2) I get to word it more succinctly/better/shorter, etc. (3) I'm forced to learn patience and perseverance :-) If I were in your place and had to take an incomplete or even fail/take the whole course over, I'd try to see it as an opportunity to do a better job and/or it would be "easier" so I could maybe take an additional class the next semester, not get behind. At my universities, the second grade totally overwrote the first so it didn't show you had not finished/flunked the first one, etc.

Let me be sure I understand: Have you actually talked to the professor who teaches your class?
Thanks for this!

I have been told to fill out a "Special Consideration" form and if my circumstances were "TRULY" exceptional they may consider it even though it is past the due date to submit the form. The thing is though I already have a disability service plan in place for my mental illnesses but for some reason that doesn't seem to be making a difference? To fill out this form I need to get a doctor's certificate but I can't really get that since my T only works one day a week. Also, this situation wasn't really caused by a medical condition so... I don't know what they expect me to do. It's actually really stupid.

Anyway, thanks all for the replies

Good news everyone! My lecturer just emailed me saying he remarked my assignment for me I still failed that particular assignment but my overall mark for the subject is enough to pass. I am so glad I do not have to do that subject again; it was so horrible the first time!
