I am in 9th grade and we are doing a swim unit. Boys and girls are both in the class. I am a very anxious and nervous person but I find myself not caring at all about being in a swimsuit in front of the class especially girls and yet I have some stretch marks? Why is this? How can this happen when I am usually anxious? I'm a 14 year old boy by the way

Hm, maybe you're feeling a bit more confident than you initially thought? And I mean, when everyone is in their swimsuit, you can see all of their "flaws" too. Maybe you'd be nervous if you were the only one wearing a swimsuit, but since everyone else is as well, then it's not really too big of a deal. It's great that you don't feel nervous though. I'd definitely be nervous!

Swimming can be very relaxing and enjoyable and one has to concentrate on the surroundings and lessons, etc. which are different; it would be too hard to concentrate on yourself and what others are doing/thinking. If you were just going to the community pool, that would be slightly different because you would be choosing to do that but with school, you have to do what they say and it is a structured class (so no one else is going to be able to pay attention to you anymore than you are going to be paying attention to them) and no one is free to joke/make fun of others, etc.

Sounds like you're comfortable in your own skin which is a good thing, and as lmats said everyone is out there so that helps to feel less vulnerable... Definitely enjoy the swimming too, I never did it at school and still can't swim and I always regretted it
