Hey everyone, so I am diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and I have been going crazy at school!
It's the first month and I haven't meet any good friends. And it seems that everyone around campus has a group of friends already.
I'm scared and I really need help.
Any advice would be so helpful, thanks.

Are you in a dorm? That's where a lot of people make friends. If not, join a club, should be a bunch on campus and see if there is something you are interested in or something related to what you want to study.

I don't know that your school has this, but mine has a program specifically targeted to getting freshman involved in activities. We have all the freshman sit together at the football games so they get to know each other away from the upper classmen. We had something called get on board day where all the clubs and fraternities/sororities came out and had a table/tent set up for people to talk to them. We have a viewing party for one of the away football games for everyone, but especially the freshman, to come to.

One thing. Find some study partners. I've made friends that way. A good way to do that is sit on the front or maybe second row. That's where the students that are most likely to want to work together sit.

Maybe your student health center has groups set up. Like mine has one for eating disorders, and then several others. Not one for depression right now. I'm going to call and get on the list for a depression group. They need 10 to start one.

Sometimes the other sports are cheaper and more social than football. Like when gymnastics, softball, soccer, and baseball are all in season, it's usually really cheap or even free for students to attend and sit in the student section together.

I screwed up my first time around in college and I think a major key was because I didn't get involved. This time I'm in two student organizations, very heavily involved in one of them. And I meet with all kinds of people every week to study. As a result it's a lot better and I'm graduating in December. Just do what you can to stick yourself out there, I know it can be intimidating and tough.

I'll be happy to talk more, or really listen. So pm me if you want.

Best of luck.

I agree with Abe Froman. Joining clubs is really a great way to make friends. They usually have icebreaker events for you to attend where most people are just as unsure as you are. In classes, you could just ask a simple question to a friendly person (like "is this the class for ___ ") . That could be a good icebreaker and lead in to a conversation. Everyone knows the uncertainty of finding the right classroom!

A lot of people are scared in their first year: some just as scared as fellow students with anxiety, and others not as scared but scared all the same.

Best wishes and good luck in your first semester!

Another one. Certainly not trying to push religion on you. But a lot of religious organizations near colleges have big ministries and events geared towards college students. I'd say as long as it's one of the big religions and they have a presence near your school, you'd be able to find something in your faith if you practice a faith.
