Hi, everyone.lkdhflkdsI'm having a bad time right now.I'm going to school right now, and it looks like I'm failing one particular class.Of course, there are a couple of assignments that have not been graded yet, and there are still a couple of more assignments to do, but still.....I'm just not getting it, for some reason.I'm also worried that, even if (and when) I do get my degree, I still won't be able to find or keep a job.I've never been able to keep a job for long, and I'm in my 50's with a mental illness, chronic pain and fatigue with no experience.

Hello shortandcute: Well, with regard to the class you believe you may be failing, my suggestion would be to talk with the instructor with regard to your concern. Perhaps there is something that can be done to get you a passing grade. I once took a math class in college I was completely unfit for. The professor said, at the beginning of the semester that no one would fail who made an effort to come in for extra help. So I did... regularly... And he was true to his word. I got a "D"!

With regard to your concern about finding a job, I would say your concerns are justified. Anyone in their 50's or "better" is going to encounter age discrimination. Add this to the fact you have no work experience & you may have a tough road to hoe, as they say. I presume your school has a placement office. I would take full advantage of that. Also, you might consider starting part-time. And expect to start at the bottom of the ladder in your new field. Also, if you could acquire some volunteer work experience in your field between now & when you graduate, this could be beneficial. My best wishes to you!

Is there any assistance available to you for this subject? Extra tuition? A head of faculty you can talk to?

I hear you about mental illness and the challenges of maintaining employment.

Don't worry about no experience. I've seen plenty of late bloomers work their way up to the top.
