How do I ever manage to complete University while suffering from agoraphobia? Any suggestions? I can't explain how horrible this is. I am 35, finishing an undergraduate degree. It's sad, because I don't think there is anything my psychiatrist or therapist can do other than recommend more sedating drugs. I don't leave the house on a daily basis, and if I did maybe I would have a chance. Ugh. What to do. Thanks for reading.

Take care.

Have you considered going online to finish undergrad? It is possible. You will want to do your research throughly. Online education can be highly varied in quality. In my personal opinion, I am wary of anyone who promises quick and easy graduation. Also, accreditation is very important. All schools will claim accreditation but some research online will let you know what is legit and what's not. Personally I always stick with legit state unis. They have history, standing in the community, credits can transfer easily, good accreditation, etc. many have completely online programs.

It took my 8 years to finish undergrad. Agrophobia and depression made it take longer than the supposed standard of 4 years. I had trouble attending class and not leaving early due to panic and depression.
Ignore that 4 year time frame anyway. the majority of students will not graduate in four years. Many will take significantly longer.

At 36, I am back in school. No shame in it.

My parents are both higher Ed educators. Both have had people in their sixties and seventies in undergrad classes. Some students always wanted a college education. Some had served in the military as enlisted for their careers. There were a few with severe disabilities who had been told for many years that college wasn't for them. Lots of reasons.
Anyway, 35 is not old in undergrad.

Best,
DW

I wish the best for you. I have similar concerns as I'm currently struggling to leave the house every day to get to classes.
