I won't even go into all my school problems, but I need help on mostly one thing.

I have a general problem with homework. I cannot, no matter what, do homework at a regular time when I get home. If I do it in class, fine. But if we don't get the chance to do it in class then it will always turn into a problem. And for some classes if I'm not in a really good mindset to do it then I can't do it in class either.

My biggest problem, however, is English. I just can't do it! I have a really hard time with all of it, and doing homework is not something I can accomplish. I spent over a month not doing homework or doing it really late after the due date. My teacher doesn't really have that much of a problem with things that are late because he understands that we are all busy (and that includes having time for ourselves to relax!), but some things that are for peer-review can't be late since they are worked on that class.

Right now I have to rewrite an essay and nothing is getting me to start on it! I was really close to starting on Friday but I didn't end up doing it... I hate writing and just can't do it. Especially when we take it home because then he expects it to be really good. Our first review was Friday but I didn't end up going to class. And our second one is for tomorrow but I STILL haven't done it! Why can't I do this?

I know I will get hell from my parents but that doesn't even bother me anymore. I know I'm already a disappointment to them and all they do is yell at me because they don't think I try enough. They just think I'm lazy. They just can't understand how hard it is for me. They had 13 or 14 subjects when they were in school, my cousin has 13, they think this is no problem, having only 8 (7, really since I have a spare). I'm completely burnt out but can't do anything about it. I'm stuck, I'm going to fail, and I'll never hear the end of how awful I am from my parents.

Why can't I do this?! I know it's worse if I don't, but I just can't.

Hello RikerR5: Well... it's been many years since the Skeezyks was in school! But way back when I was, I was a lot like you. I guess I was fortunate, in a sense, that I went to schools where they really didn't care if you learned anything or not. As long as you could skin by, they just passed you along. And that's what I did... just enough to squeak by...

I've carried around a lot of depression & anxiety throughout my life, although I guess I wasn't consciously aware of it when I was young. Plus I was bullied both verbally & physically throughout high school. So that certainly didn't help either. Looking back, I think that my depression & anxiety were probably the reasons I lacked any-&-all motivation to do anything more than was absolutely necessary. Perhaps something of that sort is going on with you too? If there is a counselor or trusted teacher at school you could confide in, perhaps that might be a place to start with regard to figuring out what is going on with you & what to do about it. The thing is, you're establishing patterns now that may well follow you into adulthood. So dealing with the problems you're having now may help you to prevent these problems from troubling you once you enter the adult world.

Well... depression does that to a person. It can sap every ounce of strength & motivation from you. You may want to get up & do what needs to be done more than anything. But you just can't.
Thanks for this!

Perhaps try to do your homework at the school library, and if there are any English tutors available then don't hesitate to ask.

You can try for private tuition or you can attend workshops that offer guidance in studies. They may be able to help you to a great extent.
