I work with him and he's so sweet I enjoy his company and he makes me feel happy. Which is hard because today was a bad day for my depressive episodes. He always offers me a hand when I need to walk somewhere and he's right there when I need his help in my lane. He also has high functioning autism but that's not what I see when I look at him all I can focus on is his smile. Well my school has an age limit on prom attendees 20 and under.
He's four years older than me. End of story. *curls up into a ball crying* I just kept imagining us walking in to the gym arm and arm.. I think I'm going to go to bed now.

I'm glad you have someone who is there for you. Support people are such a blessing.
I went to a different high school than my boyfriend and his prom didn't allow non-students to attend; it was really stupid. So we refunded our tickets and took a train down to Chicago instead. We had an awesome time and saved a lot of money. I still think it was one of our better adventures. Contrary to the mainstream narrative, prom is not the defining moment of your high school career. I hope you and your boy can find a way to still have a magical night. |

Is/was he wanting to go? I have Asperger's and I prefer to avoid those things, as do most Aspies I know. Actually in Special Education usually only a few of the non-autistic younger teens ever turn up on school parties.
I'm not saying this is the case with him. And the two of you might have discussed it or he might have indicated wanting to go. Just that a lot of non-autistic people feel sad when they can't go to an event, and a lot of autistic people feel relief. That said.. can you come together with a group of people and hold a junior prom(/dance/party/dinner/fun evening)? Or can you and your friend do something together, like a fancy dinner (he in a suite, you in a dress)? I hope it will be a fun evening anyway. ![]() |
