Hi friends Don't know if this is the right forum for this question, but I'll try.
I'm working as a special education teacher at high school. I have my students, but I also try to support the others in the class if they need. I'd need an advice. There is this boy in class who doesn't have big problems with study (he's actually quite good), but he has some behavioural problems. They said in the previous schools it was even worse, for example he hit someone while quarreling or broke things. Here it didn't happen for now, but you can see he has to make an effort to stay calm when angry (in fact the people who follow him suggested to try to be calm with him if he tries to provoke). I can add that he has a bad family situation and for this he lives in a sort of community with other kids (I don't know the details of the family situation). So he's probably also nervous for this. Apart from trying not to have arguments with him (I'm usually quite patient anyway, though sometimes it's a bit hard also for me with him), I'd like to know if you have advices about to actually support him...not only to avoid conflict, but also to do something good for him and be there, if I can. I know I can't solve everything as a teacher (also because it's not sure I'll be there for more than a year), but I'd like to try. For example, I have the impression that he provokes to get attention and find a way to have a "contact" with adults, to say it in a simple way. I try to answer in a joking way if possible (the difficult thing is when other students are there, because I don't want they get used to answer badly too). And in general I try to pay attention to what he says if it's a good thing, like when he talks about his sport (unfortunately he doesn't do it often with teachers). Do you think this is good? Do you have other ideas, maybe concrete "tricks"? I know you don't know him, but maybe you had a similar experience of however have ideas...sometimes brainstorming helps Thank you in advance __________________ "I'm not beautiful like you.
