I just feel so overwhelmed and so upset because I'm unable to do the maths for my course. I'm thinking of withdrawing the course. Maybe I just need to realise that maybe I can't be a midwife and have to choose something that doesn't require maths. It's so stressful I just think I should go and try and get a job at Woolworths and forget about it. Maybe it's not meant to be

I think of all the posts you’ve made here going back years you know the answer. School is not for everyone. There are very successful people who’ve not excelled at school.

What kind of math is it? Unless there’s a legit disability people usually can’t do math because there weren’t taught properly. Can you describe what math is it?
Thanks for this!

It's fractions, long division. Multiplication with decimals, addition with decimals, subtraction with decimals, division with decimals.

Do you get time with a tutor one to one?

I agree problems with maths are normally to do with inadequate teaching. A good tutor will look at how you learn best and adapt to you.

I did maths as a mature adult because I had always told myself all my life I wasn’t good at it. The adult education tutors were very helpful and patient and I got my qualification.

My late mother had the gift of explaining math in digestible terms to everyone, including teens who thought they simply would never grasp it. But she was able to teach them. It is possible. You just need a good tutor.

I agree that the way you're taught has a big impact on your success... my dad tried to teach me and that was a disaster. He made me feel angry, stupid, despondent, and like telling him where to shove his calculator LOL. Unfortunately, those associations lasted for a long time. For awhile, it was very difficult for me to learn math with anyone, until I found a reason to learn it on my own. In my case, it was a class I really liked that required a heavy amount of math. I don't know what I'm trying to say... it sounds like you have already found a subject which interests you that requires math. The gist of my comment, I guess, is to not let feelings of fear or failure take over. Much, much easier said than done, I know.

Can you use a calculator? You don’t need to be math genius to be a midwife or a nurse. My husband is RN with BSN (similar level of training to midwifery in Australia) and he’s not that strong in math. But he’s state licensed and successful at his job.

On the other hand if obtaining a degree is too much, you could try careers that don’t require bachelors degree.

No it's a requirement for cert 4 to not use calculators in university you can use calculators because it's more about knowing the formula don't ask me why 🤷

How wonderful of you to offer!

I am sure there are free shared whiteboarding tools online that you and OP can use.
