My daily goal thread has been so well received that I am thinking bigger. I need to get a life. That is I need a focus. I need a plan. I don't like being a healthy 60 year old on the scrap heap of life. I have never been good at having a focus for the future.

I am resigned to not work again or doing a structured volunteering job. I might find something less demanding. That might be one of my first lifetime goals. I need to find a purpose. Hopefully something less isolating and that helps people.

I am 60 years old with limited funds and little income. I don't want to go back to socializing that involves bars or pubs, i.e. booze. I am not ready for the slippers and dominoes. I do not fit in with the senior image. I am what they call a baby boomer, one of those many folks born after the war. Most others are working, have families or are well placed financially.

I need to add activities that I might enjoy and those that involve meeting people, that involve leaving the house !!

I have some ideas but I would appreciate any suggestions. Feel free to post about you own hopes and fears. Remember a resolution is forever, not just for the New Year...

One thing that seems to happen where I live (though I have absolutely no idea whether other communities do this) is a volunteer police squad. They are all seniors, have lived a life and want to be a part of something. They do some patrols and report in things that are going on, handle crowd control for events or direct traffic at accident scenes and that sort of thing. They also participate in various community service events throughout the community. It might be worth seeing if there is something similar where you live. Also, many schools like to have people who are willing to volunteer in almost any capacity from reading stories to the little ones to helping with tutoring for the older kids. These could all be done on a schedule you see fit to work and would get you out there and allow you to give something back in a huge way

I would encourage you to join a meetup.com group. They have lots of groups in many areas and it would serve as your social activity. Good luck!
