Eastern teachings on taming thoughts and converting emotions
I have been asked "what are some good places to learn what cognitive and behavioral therapies look like in Eastern Thought. Here are two sites (and their search hits) which are good places for beginners. No special vocabulary or education is needed to benefit from these beginning teachings. Hope they are of benefit to any who are interested in such things. Here is the general search web site for Tonglen Meditation. I personally like Pema Chodron, who is famous for, among other things, her book: "Start Where You ARE". http://www.bing.com/search?FORM=WEAC&PC=WEAC&q=Tonglen+Meditation&src= IE-SearchBox here is a site where you can read what she says: http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/Faith-Tools/Meditation/1999/12/Tonglen-Meditation.aspx Changing Pain into Compassion. Here is the link to a search of Lojong Mind Training : http://www.bing.com/search?FORM=WEAC&PC=WEAC&q=Lojong&src=IE-SearchBox And here is the site for the Daily Lesson: http://lojongmindtraining.com/ Taming the Thoughts This should set you well on your way to a newer and deeper understanding of how to tame the thoughts, and emotions, and progress on the path to being the person we all want to be: our best self~! :-) your friend, Gus |

![]() Regards, I Appreciate the Free Online Psychological Self-Help Book, Its Very Considerate and Generous, Thank You. I bought a few years ago what was said to be, one of the best self-help workbooks. As for myself, I only made it to chapter 1. I felt to tramatised to move forward. I was on my ptsd medications. However New Symptoms Came, Like "Easily Startled." I Have Never Seen a Therapist, One on One More than One Time. I have Trust Issues, Besides being Overwhelmed by Repeating Experiences. I Keep My Guard Up, To Protect & Keep it all to Myself. I Feel Very Alone, Assuming No One Can Understand. At the Same Time, I Feel like A Complete Coward.. Instead of Embracing Theraphy In An attempt to "let go of trama" To Possibly Have a Better Quality of Life. Than Achieve my Potential's, Hopefully. Medications Alone Helps 50% My Enviroment is so/so.. My Goal Is To Make An Appointment With A Therapist. That Will Be A Huge Self-Help To Myself, Is To Allow 1 To Help Me. |

Hi..first timer..im 49..in and out therapy since 23. Had 2 great long term therapists. Been inpatient 3 times. First psychiatry at 20. Several different diagnosis, which never quit fit. Parents were alcoholics, husband died of overdose, my child is an heroin addict..so here I Am still standing..looking forward to learning, listening, sharing. Feels like a safe place.need that now. Im isolated and homebound..thank you for forum. those are "the facts" me im fighting never giving up..embracing my self my strengths weakness mistakes..up and down but staying afloat. So yeah hi im new😁😌✊🌟looking forward to meeting all..yes i use humor when feel stressed out but truly respect and empathize with all. I also have bsw but never practiced..only non profits im social activist..
