I absolutely agree that doing nothing can make depression worse, but unfortunately when mental illness is severe, working is often not an option.
I've been on disability for about 7 years now. I am currently working part-time but could not have done that when I first went on it. Everyone is different. I'm sure you meant for this post to be helpful but it might end up hurting those who want desperately to work but just cannot do it at the moment. Also, there are many other things one can do to stay busy if they are not able to work...such as volunteering, exercise, hanging out with friends, meditation, etc. |

I agree wholeheartedly. The days I stay glued to my recliner I feel severe depression but if I can push past that and get up and out, I always feel better.

Try gaining a new creative hobby.
Art, music, reading, writing, etc. Creating things will help you mentally and proof that you have accomplished things. |

Not necessarily but I think very likely. At one time I got laid off and I thought it would be fun but it wasn't. Days turned into unending units of time. I feel like the perfect thing is like 4 hours of work every day.

That's true. Me too, when i quit my job, i thought it was ultimate freedom. Man, i got depressed lol due to boredom xD and staying whole day at my room
