Recently I've been binge watching a lot of online advice videos made by people who are motivational speakers, entrepreneurs, consultants for different industries, or who have been through difficult experiences and wish to share their conclusions.
I'm finding it very useful right now. I've been noticing that: * Self-doubt and fear of failure or social judgment is a huge problem, even for people who have achieved significant success in various areas of life. They have had to find ways of overcoming that too. It's reassuring to know all that is common, and survivable! * One size doesn't fit all. Different people find that some quirk of their psychology or circumstances means what worked for them, might not work for someone else. The more tools you have, the more knowledge and experience you can acquire, the better. * Its making me realize that compared to these folks brave enough to share difficult experiences online for a potential audience of millions, I am not as socially confident and expressive as I want to be. This is holding me back. It is making me realize there are things I need to change about myself, and I'm just not doing it. * I'm learning how much self-doubt, limiting expectations that appear to be learned, and avoiding imagined risk seriously hold me back in my own life. It has prompted me to commit to self-improvement and measurable behavioral changes more aggressively than before. Just throwing my observations out there. Maybe you'll find these kinds of videos useful as well. |
