Hi struggle101,

I take it that you're feeling numb at the moment. I kinda know how it feels because I've faced the same thing a few times, like I couldn't be bothered with anything, and sort of like I was dead inside. Technically, this feeling is symptomatic of a lot of medical conditions or side effects of medication.

Some of the most common causes are depression and anxiety. Also, the hormones caused by stress can be a factor, especially if you're going through prolonged stress, leading to emotional numbness. A lot of the time you will probably feel drained, physically and emotionally.

But know this: this is not permanent. It will pass. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but it will.

For now, if you're on medication and suspect that it might be causing this, consult your doctor. You could also consult a therapist, if you'd like.

Rely on your support group. Your close friends, family or someone. Even if you have no one to talk to, chat with anyone here. I'm sure we'd all like to help.

Get plenty of sleep and exercise, those are good mood boosters as they release endorphins.

Try and minimize stressful situations. Take a break from whatever makes you feel bad. Go for a walk, or a drive or take a nice, hot bath.

I hope this helps you. If you want to talk, we're here to help.
