It makes people uncomfortable. It pushes people away.

Why can’t I trust my friends knowing that a few days of no contact doesn’t mean anything

Also, I check if my friends are online, all the time

I'm the same as you. It's took me years to realise my friends aren't going anywhere if I don't see/speak to them daily or weekly. I still don't get me wrong feel like you do at times especially when I need to talk to them. But I have had to learn to be patient. I'll send a message and wait if I haven't heard anything in a week then I text again. I use to cry after leaving my friends it sounds pathetic now. But I would cry for hours.

I lost a friend because of this, I asked for forgiveness but no sympathy shown

I had to be strong and not let my head get in the way of my friendships. It still hurts but I just force myself to be strong when leaving them. Sometimes my friends realise I'm struggling and are there for me

I’m trying very hard to focus on the friends I do have and care for me
