I've read these sentences in Chapter 6 Self-help book:
"If being alone is difficult for you, desensitization should help and you will need practice enjoying being alone. Find some interesting and worthwhile activity, like get a part-time job interacting with people, read parts of this book, etc. " I really don't understand why "practice being alone " is related with "get a part-time job INTERACTING WITH PEOPLE". |

I think it's saying that you can become over sensitive to being alone, because of too much time alone feeling lonely, so spending more time with people, and having activities to focus on could make you less sensitised, and get used to being happy alone.
