Has anyone here read this text? I have been doing a little browsing through this book, periodically. I feel like it is packed with information I can actually apply to my life.
The first two chapters, after the introduction, outline two principles that are essential for mental fitness: 1.) Valuing yourself, and 2.) Recognizing that you can change. I feel like I can already use this information by simply telling myself to "value myself", and "recognize that I can change". I keep telling myself these two things periodically. Another factoid I came across was that the "I have to do things right" mentality perpetuates low self-esteem. This is in chapter 10: Building Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem. It feels like no matter what I come across in this book, I always feel like I can apply it to my life, to my thoughts and behaviors. It's pretty neat. You're very welcome. The book has helped me, personally. But I cannot say it will definitely help others. I was just curious to see if it helped anyone else. I have another book called Surviving Schizophrenia: a Manuel for Families, Patients & Providers by E. Fuller Torrey MD. The main goal of this latter book, I assume, was to get me to realize my diagnosis is real.
