I own a copy of this book. My sister, who majored in psychology in college, gave a copy of this book to me as a gift for Christmas one year. That was more than ten years ago. I have not really started reading it until recently. The lazy person I am, I decided to try to find the key to surviving Schizophrenia according to this book. Apparently, there is. According to Torrey, the single most important factor in surviving Schizophrenia is having the right attitude. The author then goes on to say that the right attitude will evolve naturally once there is resolution to the twin "monsters" of Schizophrenia - blame and shame. So, from this, I take it that the key to surviving Schizophrenia is getting rid of blame and shame.
I cannot just read the entire book and then reflect on it. Because if I did that, I would have nothing to reflect on. This is because anytime I simply read a book, I don't retain any of it. I have to study it in order to retain anything. |

Good for you. Studying it is much better than just reading the words. Students need to do a lot of thinking to really learn.
