Go me! I brushed and flossed yesterday, and my teeth felt really good afterwards so that's motivation to keep it going.

Of course. Feeling good afterwards is the best motivator!

Flossed yesterday.
In good news, my gums are feeling a lot better, now they're just itchy in a couple of spots, |

Thanks @Tart Cherry Jam
That was kind of my thinking, although ideally I'd like to do both. Flossed again yesterday, but didn't brush. I received my Oral B electric toothbrush yesterday, so I'm hoping it will motivate me to brush more regularly. |

No crowns.
I used my Oral B for the first time yesterday, and my teeth felt really clean afterwards. I also managed to floss. |

Yay! You are lucky to have no crowns. Keep it up this way by taking good care of your teeth.

Thanks.
I love my new Oral B. It does make brushing much more fun. I brushed and flossed yesterday, so that's positive. |

What is your prompt, or cue, that you need to do floss and brush? Meaning, what is the anchor in your existing routine that tells you that it is time to floss and brush?

That's a good question @Tart Cherry Jam, I think part of my problem is that I don't have one. I mainly floss whenever I remember it when I'm watching TV at night, and then if I'm motivated, which I'm usually not, I'll go brush. It would probably be helpful if I tied it to something like after taking my night meds.
Did manage to floss and brush yesterday. |

Relying on motivation is not a useful approach because it waxes and wanes. Same goes for relying on memory. You need a steady prompt and taking your nighttime meds sounds perfect.

You're absolutely right @Tart Cherry Jam.
I brushed and flossed yesterday. I did it right before taking my night meds, so I'm going to see how I do with using my meds as a clue. |
