They have these wooden dental pics that are like little inch long arrows, pyramid shaped. Or rather a long triangle. You insert the pointed end between your teeth, then butt the long flat side up against the gum between the teeth. It stimulates it. Its a great massage.

I like the GUM soft-picks. They probably work very similar to the Stim U Dents (which I had never heard of).
The soft-picks make a satisfying squeaky sound when your teeth are clean. I had hand surgery a couple of months ago, and switched to these. Don't think I will ever go back to string flossing. As I live by myself, I can sit and soft-pick while I am watching TV. May not want an audience for that though. They are made of silicone with little ridges. They are available on Amazon, Walmart and most drug stores. |

In an ideal world, i would have a dental fountain next to my tv chair so i could swirl and spit!

I tried the dental picks once a few years ago and didn't really like them. I'm still not wild about flossing, but I seem to be getting into a bit of a routine with it, and I kind do like old school floss.
That being said, yesterday was a complete bust. I didn't floss or brush. |

This morning there was no blood while I flossed. Just did my second brushing today. I have also found a good deal on Amazon to replenish my stash of Crest stannous fluoride toothpaste. I alternate between using sodium fluoride and stannous fluoride, endorsed by my younger dentist (I have two dentists who are a mother and son pair). Here is the link: Amazon.com |

I used many GUM soft-picks this morning instead of a floss. It felt good, thorough. I think i will do that from time to time, but mainly will stick to using a floss.
Did the second brushing. |

Flossed and brushed yesterday.
I have an appointment this afternoon for a cleaning. I'm apprehensive about it, but hope it will be better than my last one, since I've been flossing regularly for the past couple of months. |
