I too do better on less medication. Now in the twilight years I’m on mono therapy for the bipolar, just latuda. But several for sleep issues. A combination of otc and prescription.
I slept great last night. I took an extra ambian but maybe I didn’t need it? The night was cold. Only 63 F when I went to bed. It was glorious. Maybe not square peg guys 40’s but cool enough for me. I loved it. I slept so well I had to rush to get ready for my hour drive to Rochester for my dental appointment. I’ve also quit the pain meds. Didn’t take any yesterday and I think it helped me sleep better too. But in my rushing about I didn’t get to reflect on my dreams so they were forgotten. __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. Yes. They are so vivid and of such a wondrous quality it’s disappointing when they disappear.

I had the weirdest experience.
I slept well, waking up twice to pee which is typical and going back to bed. Woke up, thinking it was for the whole day ahead, at about 6:45 AM. Was hungry so ate instead of doing dental hygiene. Then realized I still was sleepy so took a short nap, setting the alarm to 7:45AM to make it to my 8AM meeting virtually. TWoke up with the alarm but was tired, even though Oura registered a high score of 80 for sleep and even 88 for readiness, out of 100. I took Ritalin. Was falling asleep during that meeting, and since I was only an optional invitee, excused myself and dropped off about after about 20 minutes. Took another nap and at 8:50 AM realized that the inside of my head was spinning, a side effect of Ritalin that I had experienced before once after taking a double dose. It was spinning so bad that attempts to get up from the bed were fruitless. It was getting to the point of my being a fall risk. I then sent a message saying that I would not be able to make it to my 9AM meeting and asked to record it for me. Also said that I would later share my updates planned for that meeting in messaging. And, fell asleep. Woke up at 11:30 AM. Still dizzy. Waited until I was able to get up from the bed. Still somewhat dizzy but not a fall risk anymore. Since then, I have been gradually getting back to normal and from now till the evening I will work to catch up with everything I missed at work. This is very disappointing: Ritalin did not produce the desired effect and instead produced an adverse effect. Somehow it is difficult to win this game. __________________ Bipolar I w/psychotic features Last inpatient stay in 2018 Geodon 40 mg Seroquel 75 mg Gabapentin 1200 mg+Vitamin B-complex (against extrapyramidal side effects) Long term side effects from medications, some of them discontinued: - hypothyroidism - obesity BMI ~ 38 |

I've been getting at least 7 hours of CPAP time since my previous check in, usually 8 or more hours.
I have an appointment to pick up a new machine next week. Some dreams stay with me all day or longer; they fade very gradually. I'm sure I don't remember most of them. I'll be in bed by 10:15 tonight. We're expecting below freezing temps, and some windows are still open even now. (But I'll close them soon.) I'm looking forward to a nice deep sleep, although the waning gibbous moon might interfere. I'm glad all of you are still posting, and I hope you have the RItalin figured out, TCJ! __________________ Major Depressive Disorder; Sleep Apnea; possibly on the spectrum Nuvigil 50mg; Effexor 37.5mg Wellbutrin 150mg; meds for blood pressure & cholesterol |

gibbous moon, another new term I have just learned! I look up how to pronounce it, too.

Slept pretty good last night and had a good workout at the gym, so I should be getting sleepy soon. Stopping my morning meds has turned out to be the best thing so far - the daytime drowsiness has mostly disappeared. Glad to see everyone posting and keeping up with this thread. My dreams disappear as soon as I wake up, sometimes even as vivid as they are.
Tonight going to be at 11pm - the CPAP recorded 7 hours and 30 minutes of sleep last night. __________________ Tales of Love, Motivation, and An Interesting Journey - Please Subscribe to my Website on WordPress: Inspired Odyssey's Path to Wellness and Love |

Today I am doing just fine on Ritalin. I took it in the morning on an empty stomach, waited for a long time (more than 45 mins) afterwards before having a latte, and am having a good day.

Going to bed now, shortly after 11PM.
I had a good day after taking Ritalin on an empty stomach this morning. I worked productively and then I had two workouts.

The night before last I was forced to shut my windows because it was raining. It got much too hot. And I couldn’t sleep. So last night despite the theat of more rain I cracked them open hoping that if it did rain the wind wouldn’t come in. I slept pretty well. Woke too early. Was dreaming of potatoes! Making hash browns.but curiously I’m not at all hungry.

When I was a child, sleeping in my grandparents' country house when it was raining outside was a distinct pleasure. I thought that that was the best sleep.

I had enough sleep, finally getting up a 9:30AM (but I had a period of time around 5AM when I had to eat because I was hungry and then I was messaging my friend in Germany for awhile). I won't need Ritalin today.

Been sleeping around 6 hours per night - wonder if I am getting manic, a little worried, but I think I will be alright.
Hope to get a full 8 hours tonight - going to bed at 11pm. __________________ Tales of Love, Motivation, and An Interesting Journey - Please Subscribe to my Website on WordPress: Inspired Odyssey's Path to Wellness and Love |

Yesterday (Friday) was a WFH (Work From Home) day for me, and I was so exhausted that I needed a nap afterward. Then I went to bed at about 7:30pm. I got up at 4:30am to pee and start the dishwasher. But then the cats started to prowl (thinking it was time for breakfast) so I spent about a half hour feeding them. Then I peed again and went back to bed and got up for good at 7:15am.
I could've done the same today (although it's not a work day), but I'm still awake. I'll try to be in bed by 11. __________________ Major Depressive Disorder; Sleep Apnea; possibly on the spectrum Nuvigil 50mg; Effexor 37.5mg Wellbutrin 150mg; meds for blood pressure & cholesterol |

Slept really horribly last night. Even with my CPAP machine, I kept seeing the little Zuni doll from Trilogy of Terror from Svengoolie last night. Even though he was cracking a lot of jokes about it, it still bothered me a lot. Slept maybe 4 hours and missed church and going to see my parents - felt awful.
Managed to salvage the day though and going to try to go to bed at 11pm. __________________ Tales of Love, Motivation, and An Interesting Journey - Please Subscribe to my Website on WordPress: Inspired Odyssey's Path to Wellness and Love |

Two nights ago, horrible sleep. Just horrible.
Then yesterday I realized that my window in the bedroom was closed. Normally it is open round the clock, but I was WFH due to hurt foot, needed to do a Zoom meeting and closed all windows to block the noise from leafblowers outside. And then forgot to open the windows again. Once I caught myself, I opened the window and last night almost slept through the night. It was amazing.

I got my new CPAP machine yesterday and was fitted with a smaller mask.
This was the best mask fit I've ever had. When I started it up there were absolutely no leaks that I could feel. Yet this morning's report indicated leaks, and I felt just as tired as usual. Anyway I've been getting to bed before 11pm (usually from 10:15 to 10:45) and getting up at around 6 to 6:30am. When I get home, I feel that I could collapse into bed and sleep for several hours. But I stay up to do cores and keep my wife some company. __________________ Major Depressive Disorder; Sleep Apnea; possibly on the spectrum Nuvigil 50mg; Effexor 37.5mg Wellbutrin 150mg; meds for blood pressure & cholesterol Last edited by SquarePegGuy; May 04, 2024 at 02:59 PM.. Had a really good day today. Going to bed at 11:30 PM having flossed, scraped my tongue and brushed. For me this is hopefully the beginning of a new good habit.

I'm aiming for a 10:15 bedtime tonight.
I woke up at 3:30am today, and was very alert. But eventually I fell back asleep and finally got up at about 6. If I awaken after 6 hours again tomorrow, I might get up -- maybe I need only 6 hours sleep if the apnea is well-controlled. __________________ Major Depressive Disorder; Sleep Apnea; possibly on the spectrum Nuvigil 50mg; Effexor 37.5mg Wellbutrin 150mg; meds for blood pressure & cholesterol |
