First, I must admit that I tell myself this at least once a week, when I don't feel in control or strong enough.
Certainly no one practice or habit is going to be a cure-all, but perhaps picking the ones that appeal is the right thing.

For me, it's keeping your mind paying attention to right now, or solving a small problem that is of no consequence if you don't solve it.
For some, this will come easier than for others. It works with practice. Don't give me that I-don't have-time-for-that reason either, we both know that we make time for what we really want to do, right?
I have learned how to do corking, medieval woodworking, journalism, sewing, sewing machine repair, computer repair and building, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, electrical repair, scratch-building models of everything from historical weapons to Steampunk props, welding, building and repair of recumbent bicycles, botanical gardening,.
Working on web page construction and fiction writing.

Regular folks do not understand how important our battle can be, but we all do and anything that adds to the arsenal against the bad times should be added.
I know that not all the above apply, but I also know that many hobbies can be tried with little or no expense. This is absolutely the right time to hit up friends for help with getting materials or tools.
I have been outsmarting myself for so long, I'm truly not sure I'd know what to do if suddenly I didn't have to any more. But it was years of practice and trial and error to find what I really liked and what I couldn't care less about.
Take a few moments when you feel good and think about what you may have always wanted to do, try to find a hobby that at least touches what turns you on enough to really think about it.
The hours will fly instead of drag, and at the end of it all, you will be creating something, something beautiful. Not to you of course, cause you can do it, but we will marvel at it and appreciate you sharing the creativity with the rest of us.
The fight for survival never ends, but it can get easier!

Wonderful advice, TY! I've a heap of scrapbooking materials untouched here and I just can't seem to get started.
