I just wanted everyone to know that distractions do work. I was one of the people who thought "If I'm thinking about cutting I'm going to do it, whether it be now or an hour from now." Yesterday I had an extremely strong urge to cut, but instead, I quickly called a friend. She didn't answer, but I didn't care, I went to her house anyway. She doesn't know the reason why or anything, and even though I was terribly afraid of getting rejected ("Why did you come without calling? Did I invite you?") I went to her house anyway. For the 'greater good' I suppose.

All I'm saying is that do whatever it takes to get your mind off cutting at the moment, because eventually that urge will go away because NOTHING lasts forever. The best way to do it is to surround yourself with friends, family, pets, anything. Just keep yourself occupied. Sounds cliche, but there is not other way. The ice thing, the red marker thing, yea yea those might work for some people (never me) but it's been my experience to just do what needs to be done for that minute, hour, or day.

I hope all you fellow SIers will take this to heart and next time you get the urge, remember this, and instead hop in the car to visit an old friend or relative. You deserve better, and I can promise you that when you wake up the next day you'll feel better knowing that you had the self control to not hurt yourself.

Good luck to everyone out there. Maybe a little inspiring?
