Saw something just now in a thread that made me wonder:
Could SI be a possible result of counteracting an intense desire to be nurtured?

I personally feel as though it is possible.
At least with myself, its at times where I'm most in need of connection that I turn to SI. Times where I feel hopeless and unworthy ... of what? Hopeless that I'm really as horrible as I think I am, and unworthy of ... well love. Sigh. ![]()

Yeh. Sometimes when i am in the most in need of connection i SH because i don't want that to be the case. I don't want to need, i hate having that desperate feeling so i SH to stop feeling. Is that what you meant?
