I have completely stopped cutting my arms and legs. I do have what I will call a "habit" of slicing thin layers of skin off the bottom of my feet and cutting my toenails completely off. This is totally painless and bloodless. I am in disagreement with my T about exactly what is going on. I would appreciate some fresh opinions. ty

i think defining si has more to do with intent than with the act itself. most of the definitions i've seen indicate that it's a deliberate act (which yours obviously is) that causes tissue damage (which also applies to your habit) and causes some change in your emotional state. so if doing this gives you some sort of relief, then it might be si.

Are you just grooming your feet? I keep my toenails cut way short and I cut the callouses off the sides of my feet but I do it for cosmetic reasons only. If it is for cosmetic reasons then no it is not SI. Shoot there are so many nifty things we can do that are self injurous that leave no permanent marks why add self grooming acts to the list?
