I wasn't sure which section to post this thread in so I just posted here.

Is it weird that I often have fantises about having any broken bone? I often find myself planning ways to break a body part but never go through--because of the pain..I heard it's painful. I want a broken leg very bad....just for the attention though so it can seem to me that I actually have friends.

Should I do it? Yes or No?

I wouldn't really call it weird.
I have fantasies of hurting myself that are much too ugly to talk about here or anywhere else.

But don't do it!
Thanks for this!

No, don't do it! We will pay attention to you just for being you!

My girlfriend and I use to do that when were were six and seven, ride around on our bikes and try to "accidentally" fall off or get hurt.

I wouldn't do it; the attention doesn't last that long and the pain/aggravation wouldn't be worth it to me; you still would have to get around, it's going on summer and the cast would be hot, itchy, and sweaty and you'd have doctors appointments and rehab after you got the cast off, practicing walking on it again and your leg would look a different color and too skinny next to the other one, etc. You wouldn't be able to hang out with others and you'd always be looking for a chair and your underarms would get sore from the crutches. . .

My husband had a cast on his leg up to his hip when he was 16 and almost didn't walk again (and we're talking a year later) being able to control how the leg broke, how serious or any complications would be almost impossible and you'd have to know there was someone around to help right away and people might learn that you broke it on purpose and be angry and think you only did it for attention :-) and decide you didn't deserve any?

Definitely come here instead for attention.

I used to have fantasies like that all the time. Still do every so often. I don't know if it's "normal", but I would definatly not reccomend acting on it.

i think when you see someone with a broken limb a couple of things are happening.1 the person with the broken part has a cast that gets attention.2 when we see the person with the cast we feel bad and want to help.it feels cool to have the cast and everyone looking, you feel kinda special.you want people to care.the problem with breaking a bone is it hurts and not a good thing to do.the attention you will get will actually be more about the break, not you....what kind of fun did you use to have with your friends?

No don't do it. I can TOTALLY understand the need for attention so you can see that your friends really care. I broke my ankle and my leg and it was the WORST pain I have ever felt in my life. Then the surgery, then the 6 weeks being in a cast that you can't get wet, can't walk on, can't itch (horribly irritating) and you can't really do much at all.
It sucks!!!

Yeah, casts are the worst.
I had several summers that my ankles were weak and I always ended up with a broken foot. It makes summer really boring.

Hmmmm... I also have fantasies of bone breakages. But I never looked at why. In the fantasies, it is always me lying there, sprawled out at some horrible angle, a person finding me and screaming for help... and that's it. Sometimes it gets to the hospital... but from there on the fantasy gets boring. Maybe it is just something to preoccupy my mind...
I was in half a cast as a kid for a week- had so many growth lines, they couldn't tell if it was fractured or not. So they splinted it toes to knee and wrapped it thickly. It does get boring very fast.
It is also a lot harder to break your own bone than you'd think. The body tries to preemt injury at all costs. I'd say just ask for attention in here or with friends =) Throw a party or bbq.

It is true, breaking your own bones is a task in itself.

Just for attention? Don't be silly!
Something as serious as breaking a bone, definitely don't go through with it.
