I decided every time I feel I might be getting dangerous to myself I need something to distract me long enough to make me think about what I am doing, and question if it is the right thing to do. I took a shoe box, and in it I have placed:
A Photo of my family (partner&son)
My favourite song lyrics (Bif Naked's Everyday)
Calming bubblebath
anti-scar cream & light self tanner, to remind me of the consequences if I did do anything, and make my skin feel better.
A teddy with a microwavable tummy that smells of lavender
a cinnamon&apple scented candle, but no lighter (to be on the safe side, I will have to ask somebody else to light it, or be safe enough to obtain one).
a colour changing night light, so I can drift off to sleep without feeling too scared.
a bar of chocolate
a vitamin enriched energy bar, incase I am feeling worse because I haven't eaten.
A list of local/national numbers for emergencies.

Hopefully I wont need to use it, but I will add a reply here if I do use it, and let you know how I got on.

Best wishes to you all x

I have one of those too!
Mine contains....
-a pink stone my T gave me,
-a goodbye letter my T wrote me,
-a mindfulness audio exercise reading that my T has done
-a little note with a reminder to "breathe" - written/doodled by a friend of mine.
-a bandage
-a red marker (for cravings of SI)
-a bracelet made a million years ago with some close friends,
-a little scrapbook a friend made me
-a cut-out heart that was given to me by a former T
-a couple of meaningful pictures
-a letter of recommendation written for me by an old professor
-my favourite candle that smells of vanilla (brings lots of positive associations)

Also Terry, I have a teddy bear with a stomach you can heat up too! it doesn't have a smell or anything, but sometimes when I'm sad, I warm it up and bring him to sleep with my to cuddle ... though technically I sleep with him every night, just not heated up every night
