When I get upset with myself I end up punching walls and doors trying to break my hand. It hasn't happened yet but it is almost as if I want it to happen. Anyone else have this happen?

yeah, i used to do that a lot and still do sometimes when i'm angry and i jus lash out on the nearest wall. Either that or i'll hit someone! My hands are messed up now, the knuckles are out of place.

Yes and no. I end up punching myself - usually in the head or jaw as hard as I can rather than a wall. Have hit a few walls though as well with my hand, but that is usually done with my head.
I am sorry you have that much anger and pain inside that it comes out sideways this way. Can you get a stress ball to use with your hands instead of hitting? Or maybe a punching bag? I use the stress ball and that does help - as long as I don't throw it at something! ![]() |

I tried punching fairly recently, around late July during the time that I took a break from cutting and was letting myself feel anger and acknowledging that I was angry. I've punched both walls and myself, before on the side of the head, but more often on my arm. The worst I did was bruise my knuckles and arm though, since I guess I always held back a bit.
I think the punching bag suggestion would be a good alternative! |

I punch things almost as if I want to break something so I have that to remind me of what I did. I have gotten better about it but the urge is still there.
