Question Dec 24, 2010 at 12:02 AM

Hi to anyone who's reading my new thread. I'm wondering if anyone's ever tried Naltrexone to stop self-harming or if it has helped you. My psychiatrist is getting nervous after what i carved on my ankle and now she put me on it. I don't really want to pick it up at the pharmacy, bu I'll give it a whirl. Any comments would help and some reassurance would help. Thanks.
her goal is to decrease the self-harm issues via negative reinforcement by not getting that pleasure feeling after i self-harm, but now I'm feeling kind of worried. Has anyone else been on Naltrexone currently or before???
Thanks and happy holidays,

I personally haven't been on naltrexone but from what I know about it, it's usually used to help people stay away from "street drugs" and alcohol. I've heard many good things about it though. Hope it helps you!

THIS IS A REALLY INTERESTING LINK BY THE WAY
http://www.myhealthsense.com/F20030506_Cutting.html

i have heard of that drug doing wonder for SI (so weird calling it SI, ive always said and been a cutter i never knew how many people do this, it was always a hush hush growing up and you got sent away if anyone found out)

anyways works wonders, poss the link might help explain why and you might already know some stuff in there, it's also a good link to print out and give to fam or friends if they ever question why or don't understand SI

so to yuor original question. never used it, but there is plenty of reviews about it if you google.
you do need to watch your liver levels on this drug though i'm sure the doctor will keep up with that.
