I haven't done my usual SI (cutting) in quite awhile now, but I'm wondering if I'm doing it passively.

I have a touch of adult ADD does this still count? (possible trigger) and go through a lot of pots and pans because I put stuff on the stove and then forget about it till 20 minutes later, when whatever was in there is black and charred and so stuck to the bottom of the pot that it will never come out.

I am also usually in financial trouble -- while I love my job, it doesn't pay enough to live on. Right now I have $10 to get me through till I get paid next Thursday, and that's fairly typical. So the last time I needed pots and pans, a friend gave me some glass ones that she didn't use anymore.

I dropped one of those on the kitchen floor oh, a month ago or so, maybe more. The normal thing to do would be to pick it up and throw it in the trash, right?

Well, I've left it sitting on the floor. There's one really big piece with a very sharp edge, and occasionally if it's dark or I'm not watching where I'm going, I step on it. Voila! Not much pain, lots of blood, no scars, as it's on the bottom of my foot.

Is this passive SI, or do I get to keep my streak of non-SI days going? does this still count? (possible trigger)

Candy

I say yes. If you are leaving it there with the hopes that you will accidently hurt yourself because of it.... Since you were unsure of it being SI I don't think you have to start over on your counting. I vote keep the streak, but keep in mind everytime you do something if you are doing it only for the pain.

Interesting thought there. If I thought for a SECOND that something was going to hurt my son, I would get rid of it on the spot. But I haven't gotten rid of this broken glass because I kind of don't care if I hurt myself on it. In fact, that's kind of the point of leaving it there.

Thanks for helping me clarify.

Hi,

Interesting reply for me also. I did some pretty minor stuff, nothing like I've done in the past, so I've been kind of wondering if what I did really counted. But when I read your response, I knew the answer. It still all part of the same stuff. I guess it's almost more the spirit in which we do things, rather than what we're doing. Thanks for helping me be honest with myself.
