I haven't cut for nearly a month. The first week was ok. The second week was really tough...and it's kinda getting harder. I don't want to start up again, but I don't think I can resist the urges much longer...sorry guys.

Hang in there. You can do this. I know you can. If it get's bad, here are some things that help me. Maybe you could use some or all of them.

Go for a walk, jog, run.

Call a friend/family member that you haven't talked to in a long time. That way you'll have a lot to talk about.

Read a book that you know you find interesting.

Watch a TV show you really like.

Go for a long drive.

Go to a movie.

Go out to eat.

Wrap a rubber band around your wrist and snap it a couple times. Hurts but not cutting. It's kinda like weening off.

Clean the house... even if you just did it.

Excercise of any kind. Wearing yourself out might make you too tired to go through the ordeal.

Come here and post your guts out. When you can't post anymore, hit up support chat. Someone will come along.

Put on a CD you can sing too.

If you like pets, go to the pet store. I used to go play with all the little baby ferrets at PetCo.

Loose yourself in ANYTHING you find interesting.

Hang in there. PM me if you need to.

Ry

Any time. I know how hard it is to stop this behavior. I fight the urges too. For me, it gets easier after you get over the "hump." Like quitting smoking, there's a period of time where it's hard as hell not to, but after that, it starts to get easier.

*********possible trigger***********

Another thing that helps me is to see the old scars healing and no new ones forming. I tend to be ashamed of the scars and when I make new ones, I feel even worse. But as they heal, I feel better and better about myself.

*****************End trigger******************

Hope this helps.

Ry

Try to hang in there tamzinrose. Maybe you can try just one day/hour/minute at a time to help get you through this difficult period. I wish you the best and hope you are able to resist. Please take care of yourself and be safe.

You are extremely strong for getting past those first few weeks, and it will in time get easier. Think about the reasons you wanted to stop in the first place, focus on the positive. You can get through this, you are in control. ((hug))
