I feel like I need help. I keep self harming. I tried to stop but I failed. Who can I go to, to help me stop self harming? Should I go to the doctor? I feel like there is nothing wrong with me. I need some advice.

Hey HappyCheeks,

You should go to your GP, Psychiatrist, Counsellor or anyone else who is looking after you who are in the Mental Health Team. You can contact the Samaritians and other organisations who are free to chat to you about this if you are really struggling.

The fact you have said "I feel like I need help." is a cry for help

Hey HappyCheeks,

That's great you did that... they can take a wee while to get back to you. I hope your feeling better now?

Glad you emailed about this. Also don't be afraid to talk to your general doctor. If you want to be discreet you can always just mention it during your anual visit or the next time you get sick (or you can say you're sick and go in just for this).

I don't know if you're able to get a therapist but therapy can also address this issue.

Posting here and trying to figure out WHY you do it can help too. For me it took figure out why, dealing with those issue, and also a long period of breaking the cycle. Self injury can be an addiction, and it can be hard to break.

A Counselor or therapist can help you to find the reason behind the self harm.

And remember it's not working if there isn't some amount of challenge.
